Via growth, acquisition and utilization of SMI’s six speedways, SMI Properties has developed a merchandising operation to fully complement the vertical structure of the company.

SMI Properties operates high-traffic retail gift shops, year-round, at SMI speedways. For major events SMI Properties will supplement the gift shops, and its other permanent concourse souvenir locations, with a traveling fleet of merchandise trailers to further increase venue presence.

SMI Properties’ trackside merchandise subsidiary, “Sports Design”, provides race team, driver and corporate sponsor clients with their own “custom retail rigs” at every NASCAR race from February through November. “Motorsports by Mail”, SMI Properties’ e-commerce and catalog company, supplements its 24-hour, 7-day-a-week retail e-commerce operation with periodic special program flyers to more than one million race fans. SMI Properties’ subsidiary “The Source International” is one of the industry leaders in electronic retail, the fastest growing form of distribution. “TSI” is the programming and merchandise provider for the QVC segment “For Race Fans Only.”

These additional sources of distribution have increased the effectiveness of SMI Properties’ program to source, design, manufacture apparel, inventory and distribute any item, collectible or gift.

Motorsports by Mail®

“Motorsports By Mail” (MBM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMI Properties, specializes in NASCAR internet website sales. MBM employs a full-time customer service department, which is fully adaptable for corporate programs to handle its internet and telephone sales. Customers can place orders 24 hours per day, seven days a week at its website, www.GoSpeedwayWorld.com, and have the ability to track purchases via their order number.

MBM’s customer service department and in-house fulfillment program enables SMI Properties to offer corporate fulfillment programs to clients. The versatility of MBM’s structure allows for management of complete fan club programs for NASCAR’s top drivers such as Jimmie Johnson. As part of these programs, MBM offers discounts on driver-specific merchandise for fan club members.

The Source International

“The Source International” (TSI), a division of SMI Properties, is the industry leader in the development of motorsports programming involving the newest, fastest-growing form of distribution – electronic retail. TSI provides the programming and merchandise for QVC’s popular “For Race Fans Only” show, increasing the exposure of apparel, souvenirs and collectibles of racing’s top drivers. By developing programming, manufacturing specific products and selling proprietary items, electronic retail opens up new and profitable categories for clients.

The addition of TSI to SMI Properties provides for supplementary opportunities in electronic retail, promotional distribution and fulfillment, special event development and management, affinity marketing and sponsorship activation and management.

Utilizing TSI and SMI’s six speedways provides SMI Properties’ clients the opportunity for more precise demographic targeting, leading to more effective advertising.

Sports Design

“Sports Design” is SMI Properties’ retail trackside operation with merchandise trailer presence at all NASCAR Nextel Cup races from February through November. Sports Design’s tractors and trailers are painted and decaled to promote each rig’s race team, driver and corporate sponsor. Each rig is transported, set up and staffed by Sports Design sales representatives and fully stocked with driver, team and sponsor specific merchandise. These rigs, as schedule and logistics allow, are also available for manufacturing facility visits and other corporate functions or events.

In addition to some of motorsports’ top names, teams and sponsors, Sports Design also represents several of today’s top entertainers.
